Amazigh KATEB

Born in Alger, son of the famous writer Kateb Yacine, amazigh was impregnated since his childhood from a theatrical environment. On stage at 11 in his father’s play “La voix des femmes”, he enters the world of spectacle and of algerian culture. Travelling in saharian south, he discovers what will be his source of inspiration: the songs of the slaves of Sudan, the gnawas.
He sings and plays percussions for two years in Copacaicana Jamaican, a band led by a great double bass player. Settling in Rhone alpes, he writes his first songs and plays with Soul Radical. In the spring 92, he founds the first formation of Gnawa Diffusion, and the second one in 2001.
